Brief description

This plastic surgery is performed to change the appearance of the patient’s ears, aesthetically or restoratively.

The aesthetic otoplasty, the most requested type, aims to correct protruding ears (popularly known as “dumbo ears”, “bat wing ears” or “sticking out ears”).

The scars

The otoplasty scar is almost invisible, because it is located behind the ear, in the fold between it and the skull. Moreover, since the skin in this region is very thin, the scar tends to be almost imperceptible, even by some techniques that use small incisions on the front side of the ear.

Postoperative period

Some discomfort (mild pain) may occur postoperatively, being solved by common painkillers, always based on medical guidelines.

However, the postoperative period is in general quite uncomplicated.

Once the dressing is removed (around the 8^th day), about 80% of the desired outcome is already recognizable.

The outcome after 12 weeks is usually definitive.
